The trial has been set for October for a Paintsville man charged with manslaughter in the death of his 2-year-old son.
Travis Mollette is set to go on trial October 10 for the 2023 incident in which his child accidentally shot himself in the head with Mollette’s gun which prosecutors say Mollette failed to properly secure.
Police say Mollette left the loaded, cocked, pistol on top of a TV stand and the boy found it the next morning.
Molette had pleaded guilty to reckless homicide but withdrew that plea in February.
