Spending 45 minutes at upcoming blood drive could save up to three lives

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Hat in hand, Kentucky Blood Center needs your help to save local lives.
Blood donation frequency has fallen flat this spring. Donors are needed at this upcoming blood drive to stock the blood shelves before the summer. Donors who spring into action at this drive will receive a Local Lifesaver trucker hat (while supplies last).

A whole blood donation with KBC takes about 45 minutes from registration to refreshment. The blood collection process is often 10 minutes or less. That one donation can potentially save three lives across more than 70 local hospitals supported by KBC.

According to America’s Blood Centers, approximately one in seven patients entering a hospital require a blood transfusion.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule a donation, visit kybloodcenter.org or call 800.775.2522.
