Former Paintsville Doctor Enters Guilty Plea to Federal Drug Charges

A former Paintsville doctor has entered a guilty plea to two federal drug charges.

At the time of his arrest, Don Bryson helped to manage and served as medical consultant for Appalachian Family Medicine, despite having previously surrendered his medical license following an investigation into his prescribing of controlled substances in Paintsville.

Bryson has entered a guilty plea to a single count of conspiracy to distribute Schedule II controlled substances.

Bryson has admitted authorizing a new doctor to use a previous doctor’s registration number to write prescriptions.

He now faces up to 20 years in prison and $1 million in fines.
