Caleb Williams Embraces Chicago, Shuts Down Doubt in Emotional Statement Caleb Williams Embraces Chicago, Shuts Down Doubt in Emotional Statement

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is setting the record straight—and making it clear he’s all-in on the team that drafted him No. 1 overall in 2024.

Following media buzz over excerpts from Seth Wickersham’s upcoming book American Kings, which revealed Williams and his father initially had reservations about the Bears, the 23-year-old quarterback delivered a heartfelt, nearly four-minute statement at the team’s OTA.

“I wanted to come here and be the guy… a reason why the Chicago Bears turn this thing around,” Williams said. While acknowledging his family’s early concerns, he emphasized that visiting the team in April solidified his commitment to Chicago.

Despite a rocky rookie year that saw coaching changes and a 5-12 record, Williams showed flashes of promise with 3,541 passing yards and 20 touchdowns. He also addressed rumors about friction with the former coaching staff, clarifying that he watched film solo to improve, not out of isolation.

“I love being here,” Williams said. “This is my team.”

Now under new head coach Ben Johnson, both player and franchise seem ready to rewrite their narrative—with Williams leading the charge into a new era of Bears football.
