Kentucky Wildcats Football got off on the right foot Saturday night, to start the 2024 College Football Season, in a wild weather game. After a 2 hour and 20 minute lightning delay to start the game against Southern Mississippi. The game finally kicked off at 10:05 PM.
UK held an impressive 31-0 lead when the game was delayed again by lightning just after the 3rd quarter began. Both teams got together and game officials called the game at that point and the Cats open the season with a shutout win over the visitinig Golden Eagles.
New UK QB Brock Vandagriff was 12/18 Passing for 169 yds and 3 TD, 1 Int. He also Rushed 5 times for 35 yds. WR Barion Brown caught 2 TD passes.
Kentucky will welcome in the South Carolina Gamecocks to Kroger Field on Saturday for an SEC matchup. South Carolina won their opening game Saturday barely getting by Old Dominion. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM.
