Former Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines is asking that a new judge be assigned to his case.
Stines is accused of shooting and killing Judge Kevin Mullins in Mullins’ chambers in September of 2024.
The defense has filed a motion which seeks to disqualify the judge overseeing the case, claiming that the judge and Mullins attended a meeting on mental health together just a week before the shooting.
The defense says it has just recently obtained video evidence that the two were near each other during the entire meeting.
