Timothy Brandon Parsons, of Louisa, entered a guilty plea of conspiring to defraud federal mine safety regulations after an underground fire occurred at the MC #1 mine in Franklin County in August of 2021.
The plea was made this week in the U.S. District Court. Parsons was working as mine manager on August 12, 2021, when a cutting torch ignited a blaze inside the Franklin County mine.
Parsons is scheduled to be sentenced December 18.
He faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
