Knott Co Attorney Indicted following a 2024 Arrest

An attorney from Knott County has been indicted on several charges. In October of 2024, Jeremy Morgan was pulled over by KSP for reckless driving on Montgomery Creek Road. KSP Troopers reported there was a strong odor of alcohol. A Trooper then asked Morgan to exit the vehicle, but he refused.

Officials say after multiple loud verbal commands to exit the vehicle, Troopers physically tried to remove Morgan from the car. There was then a short physical altercation between the two. Eventually Morgan complied with the Trooper and was arrested.

Along with resisting arrest, Morgan refused to take a preliminary breath test. Troopers say his vehicle registration was expired, and he was driving with a suspended drivers license.

Morgan was taken to the ARH Medical Center in Hazard to be medically cleared, and then taken to the Kentucky River Regional Jail. Troopers reported they also found cocaine in Morgan’s car. Morgan’s indictment included several charges, including possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, 1st degree. Tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest, driving under the influence 1st offense, and menacing, or physically injuring the state trooper.
