The Winningest Football Coach in Kentucky High School History and longtime Belfry Head Football Coach Philip Haywood passed away last week from his injuries after a car crash, that happened on Saturday, Jan 18 near his home. Haywood sustained a head injury, punctured lungs, and more. He was being treated at UK Hospital where he passed away on Wednesday, Jan 22.
Haywood had coached Belfry since 1984 and, eight State Titles, as well as being named by USA Today as the best high school football coach in 2013. He also wrote and publised two books: “Faith, Family, and Football” and “Climb the Mountain”. Funeral Services were held over the weekend at Belfry H.S.
