Reports of shots being fired near Shelby Valley High School have resulted in the arrest of 58-year-old Brian Irick.
Kentucky state police received a 911 call about 5 p.m. Wednesday evening which claimed that Irick was shooting a gun toward the high school football field while students, football players, and cheerleaders were on the field practicing.
The investigation into the incident found seven shell casings in the parking lot.
WYMT reported that Irick told troopers he shot in the direction of the football field but into the grass.
He is charged with wanton endangerment first degree for the discharge of a firearm.
