Due to a main line break, although no contamination has been confirmed, Paintsville Utilities has voluntarily issued a boil water advisory for the Staffordsville community of Johnson County. The affected areas will include:
-The entire City of Paintsville.
-From the intersection of RT 460 & Rt40 West to the Johnson & Magoffin County Line on RT 460 including all hollows and side roads in between. This will include Rt 2039, Arrowhead Estates, Horne Branch, Verne Horne Branch, Green Valley Road, Lee’s Trailer Court, Old Barnetts Creek Road, Caudill Fork, Rt 825, Riceville Road, and the Middle Fork of Jenny’s Creek Road.
– From the Intersection of Rt 460 & Rt 321 North to the Intersection of Rt 321 & US 23 North. This will include all hollows and side roads.
– From the intersection of Rt 460 & Rt 321 to the American Standard bridge on Rt 321 South including all hollows and sideroads in between. This will include Industrial Drive, Cannal Lane and Cannal Coal Gap.
– From the intersection of Rt 321 North & Us 23 North to the Johnson & Lawrence County Line including all hollows and side roads in between. This will include Rt 1559 at Stambaugh, Rt 201 at Sitka, Rt 993 at Tutor Key, Rt 581 at River, Rt 3224 at Wiley Branch, Pricetown Road, Whitehouse Road, Chestnutt Road, and Hammond Road.
– From the intersection of KY Rt 40 East & Rt 581 to the Johnson & Martin County Line on Rt 40 East including all hollows and side roads. This will include Thealka, King Addition, Island Creek Road, Richmond Village, Davis Branch, Concord, Thelma, Meally, Dicey Fork, Short Branch, Fitch Lane, Pigeon Roost, Left Fork of Two Mile, Offutt Road, Buzzards Nest, Greasy Creek, Lick Branch, and Spring Knob Road.
– From The intersection of Depot Road in Paintsville with Rt 1428 to the intersection of Rt 1428 with US 23 South at Hager Hill including all hollows and side roads. This will include West Van Lear, Van Lear, Powell Addition, and Collista road to the intersection with Rt 2039.
– From the intersection of US 23 South with Rt 460 to the Floyd County Line on US 23 South, including all hollows and side roads. This will include Rt 1750 to the Floyd County Line, Bear Hollow Road, and Rt 110 in East Point to the Floyd County Line.
-From the intersection of Rt 460 and Rt 40 West at Staffordsville to the intersection of KY Rt 40 West with Little Mud Lick Road including all hollows and side road. This does not include Little Mud Lick Road.
This advisory is being issued as a precautionary measure and is in effect until further notice.
Paintsville Utilities advises all customers in the affected areas to boil their water before using it for drinking, making ice, cooking, washing dishes, brushing teeth or food preparation. Bring all water to a rolling boil, let it boil for three minutes, and let it cool before using. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
