A local high-school senior is being recognized for both academic and musical achievement.
Big Sandy Community and Technical College has awarded the Big Sandy Idol Senior Scholarship to Magoffin County High School senior Sophie McFarlan.
In addition to continuing her education, McFarlan will also share her talents across Kentucky as a member of the Big Sandy Singers.
BSCTC officials congratulated McFarlan and said they look forward to seeing her dreams come true.
