A man shot by Paintsville Police officers on Sunday is now out of the hospital and in the detention center.
As we’ve been reporting Shawn Gayheart was shot by two officers who were trying to arrest him and had already tased and pepper sprayed him when he allegedly reached for a gun they had just taken away from him and they opened fire.
The two officers are on administrative leave while Kentucky State Police are investigating.
Court documents show the police wanted to talk to Gayheart in connection with a theft.
Paintsville Public Safety Director Darrell Preston tells the Paintsville Herald Gayheart has been arrested more than 40 times including more than a dozen felonies.
