Citizens Bank to Merge with Peoples Bancorp in $76M Deal

Paintsville-based Citizens National Corporation, which runs Citizens Bank of Kentucky has been sold to Peoples Bancorp.

The two companies announced the $76 million deal which will have Citizens merge into Peoples and Citizens Bank becoming part of Peoples Bank.

Citizens, which has 12 branches across Eastern Kentucky, was founded in 1909 as Paintsville Bank & Trust.

While both boards have signed off, the deal is not official until it gets approval from state and federal regulators and Citizens shareholders.
