Martin County Man Sentenced to 8 Years in Federal Prison for Fentanyl Trafficking

A Martin County man has been ordered to serve eight years in federal prison for his role in a drug trafficking ring that was operating out of Huntington.

Court documents show 28-year-old Kody Harless, of Tomahawk, was sentenced last week to 106 months after he pleaded guilty several months ago to possession of fentnayl with intent to distribute.

Harless admitted that he obtained the dangerous drug from a source in Huntington and intended to sell some of it.

The drugs were discovered after Harless had bene pulled over in a traffic stop.

Harless later admitted that he was part of a larger drug conspiracy during the latter half of 2023, where he would travel to Huntington to obtain fentanyl and methamphetamine, bringing the drugs back to eastern Kentucky to sell.

Harless was one of 27 people indicted as part of a massive federal investigation into the Huntington-BASED drug ring.

23 defendants have since pleaded guilty.
