PSC Investigating Floyd County’s Southern Water and Sewer District

The Kentucky Public Service Commission launched an investigation Friday into Floyd County’s Southern Water and Sewer District.

The Public Service Commission is alleging the utility has been charging customers a fee without approval.

The Public Service Commission was investigating a proposal to raise water rates by 15 percent and found that the district had been charging a disconnect charge without that charge being approved.

If the Public Service Commission finds that the charge was not approved, the manager and five commissioners could be fined and removed from their positions.
