Congratulations to Coach Jim Hicks and the Johnson Central Lady Eagles Basketball Team on Winning the 15th Region Basketball Tournament Friday Night at Pike Co Central H.S., (64-41) over the Lawrence County Lady Bulldogs. This was Johnson Central’s first Regional Title since 2018 when they defeated Pikeville (56-51) in the Championship Game.

Leading the way for the Lady Eagles versus Lawrence County was Adyson Burchett, who had a tremendous 3-game tournament. The Sr. scored 21 points in the Championship Game, to go along with 2 rebounds. Fr. Karlea Stanley scored 16 points with 7 rebounds. The leading scorer for Lawrence County was Sr. Sophie Adkins, who had 15 points in her final game for the Lady Bulldogs. Jada Patton also scored 11 points.
Johnson Central will now play in the 2025 Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Girls Basketball Sweet 16 Basketball Tournament, from Historic Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky. on Thursday, March 13 at 11 AM versus Region 7 Winner and 8 time State Girls Champion, including the last 4 straight, Sacred Heart Valkyries. Sacred Heart is 31-3 on the season and led by All-American and LSU commit, ZaKiyah Johnson. Johnson Central has an impressive record of 27-3 on the season.
