Reds Fall to Mariners 3-1

When Opportunity knocks, you need to answer the call, unfortunetly for the Cincinati Reds as hard as they tried, they couldn’t last night vs. the Seasttle Mariners. Cincinnati had plenty of chances to chip away at the Mariners’ two-run lead, but just couldn’t get it done. Cincinnati fell to Seattle 3-1.


Reds starter Hunter Greene was effective in his short outing, departing after four innings with four hits and one earned run allowed and eight strikeouts. The game was Greene’s 50th career start, and with 346 career whiffs, Greene has the most strikeouts of any Reds pitcher through their first 50 starts since the mound was moved to its current distance in 1893.


The Mariners have won the first two games in their series with the Reds after a 3-1 win last night in Seattle. With the loss, the Reds are now 9-8 overall on the season, a game and half back of the Pirates and Brewers who are now tied for the lead in the NL Central.
