Final Four Is Set

The Final Four field is set. North Carolina and South Carolina both punched their tickets to the national semifinals on Sunday. The top-seeded Tar Heels held off second-seeded Kentucky 75-73 to win the South Region. UNC will face third-seeded Oregon next Saturday in Arizona. The Ducks crushed top-seeded Kansas 74-60 on Saturday to capture the Midwest Region. The seventh-seeded Gamecocks knocked off fourth-seeded Florida 77-70 to advance to the Final Four for the first time in school history. South Carolina will take on top-seeded Gonzaga, which cruised past Xavier 83-59 to win the West Region on Saturday.

The Final Four is Saturday at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The winners will meet in the national championship game on Monday, April 3rd.

 

Maye’s Jumper Lifts North Carolina Past Kentucky

(Memphis, TN) — Luke Maye nailed the winning jumper with 0.3-seconds left as top-seeded North Carolina slipped past two-seed Kentucky, 75-73, to win the South Regional Final in Memphis. Kentucky’s Malik Monk sank a three-pointer with 10 seconds left to tie the game before Maye’s go-ahead shot. Maye scored a career-high 17 points off the bench, and Justin Jackson had 19 to lead the Tar Heels. Kennedy Meeks finished with seven points, 17 rebounds and four blocks as North Carolina advances to face Oregon in the Final Four on Saturday. “Bam” Adebayo and De’Aaron Fox each scored 13 points to lead Kentucky.
