Motorists can expect long delays on KY 3387 (Chandlerville Road) in Johnson County for the next 10 working days as Highway District 12’s contractor repairs embankment failures at three locations: mile point 0.113, 0.242, and 4.295.
D12 Engineer Tim Spencer said that the pneumatic hammer drill used to install the railroad steel that stabilizes the embankment takes up more than one lane of the roadway. “It is not safe to allow traffic through when the drill is set up and operating,” he explained, “This means that there will be frequent delays. People who do not want to wait in traffic should look for an alternate route during the next two weeks. We understand that this is an inconvenience, albeit temporary, but it is necessary if we are going to get the roadway fixed before cold weather sets in.”
Spencer said the crew appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation. “This is a work zone, so please stay alert in the area, be prepared to slow down, and observe all signs and flaggers.”
