A gathering of great people for a great cause.

On Saturday, dozens of Jeeps were on the road in eastern Kentucky taking part in the Alex Rubado Memorial Poker Run.

The Johnson County Jeep Club hosted the event in partnership with Kentucky State Police, in an effort to raise money for KSP’s Trooper Island camp.

Organizers say they had participants not only from the Johnson County area, but some people traveled from central Kentucky and parts of Ohio to take part in the event.

We’re told one person even came from Washington.

The Jeeps took off on Saturday morning from the Paintsville Food City location, and traveled through Johnson, Floyd, Martin and Pike counties.

A celebration was held at Tailgaters Pizza in Paintsville to wrap-up the night.

Connie Blevins with the Johnson County Jeep Club says “we are very humbled by the turnout.”

Over four thousand dollars was raised for KSP’s Trooper Island at the event.
